Learning Grammar (Relative Clauses) via eLearning
Grammar has always been a point of anxiety for ESL students. Especially among those whose L1s have more simple forms of grammar, English's sometimes obtuse rules and edge cases can be frustrating exercise. Hoping to increase the students' motivation, I experimented with an online learning solution that could be used to gauge student interest for further modules, serve as a review of required in-class material, and provide feedback for my future development.
Info
Software: Articulate Rise 360
Usage: Most if not all students in the upper-intermediate level of the ESL program
Result: Student scores for the grammar section on the unit tests increased an average of 6%. More modules were designed for ESL topics that students felt were difficult. The modules were distributed to other instructors to reinforce their teaching.
